Fingers and Toes

We had another ultrasound today, and it was breathtaking. Two kids of good (and roughly equal) size, with thin skin on the back their neck (a contraindicator for many genetic disorders) who were swimming and kicking. Our super-skilled ultrasound tech gave us some cool views of hands and feet and gorgeous children kicking back in fluidity with their little hearts chugging away. And we just watched in awe.

Not many words to offer but ones of wonder. How does this happen? How do bodies and souls and lives develop from nothing? How has my sick wife been able to grow these bodies-- these people-- in spite of her own illness? How is it that I love them already, and how much more will my love grow? Who will they look like? What will they be like?

I can't wait.
