On Refreshment

“Make sure you take time for yourself,” is the admonishment I hear a lot, usually with a little head tip for emphasis. So let the record show that my life is not without enjoyment and recreation.

Yesterday, eager for a chance to get away from it all, I went outside for a nice respite—I took out a bag of trash, and a bunch of stuff to the recycling bin. Today, just to get away from the stresses of parenthood, I crawled under the kitchen sink for a relaxing time replacing the faucet. I hope the kids weren’t within earshot, or they will have learned some embarrassing potential first words.
