C21 Poems, Part 2

(inspired by Kelly Bean and Julie Clawson)

Do-ability

if I had a hammer
I'd put it down
close up the tool box
hang my pride on a hook

and sit down
to play
in the dirt

to embrace uncleanness
and imprecision
messes and mistakes

to see what might grow

and to breath deeply
of dust and clean air
then to stand up
and move toward the future
the new, nimble me

Just-Us

fully committed?
forget it

I'm a partly functional
mostly thoughtful
sometimes engaged
occasionally radical
quite conflicted

little me

yet stacking tiny pebbles
one at a time
a tiny cairn
for justice
