voice

when you lay
a sleeping child
on your chest

her heart
beats close
to yours

her sweet breath comes into sync
with yours
her hair swirled into a crown
(where her head came together!)
covers a million electrical impulses
which keep it all working

wordlessly telling you
you're not as old as you feel
the world is not as dark as you think
things aren't as bleak as they seem

life is a whirling,
wondrous
miracle

the light is right there on the horizon

Mike ... I'm going to have a very long evening ahead of me if I keep coming here to tell you how wonderful these poems are: "You're not as old as you feel/ The world is not as dark as you think/ things aren't as bleak as they seem ...." How much I needed to read those words ...
