about awakening
My solitary companion
He waits at the apex of my favorite loop
Silently urging me on
Through wind and rain, ice and snow, heat and pain
I used to think he was dying, being swallowed by the earth
Now I see he's coming back to life

When Soren turned one, we had a party, not so much for him, but for us. To celebrate the fact that a year ago, we had had an actual, real live baby. Our life had turned upside down and we wanted to celebrate it. We had a pretty routine journey, so I can't imagine what it's like for you looking back on the last year. But whatever else there is to see, you became great parents, Ella is amazing, and wow, what a celebration.
We love you and think of you often.
